On Wednesday, May 1, the OC GRIP Program partnered with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to take 75 students from Pyles, Salk and Walter Schools, “out to the ballgame.” Fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students from these three schools were challenged to meet goals related to the three Big As: Attitude, Academics, and Attendance. Congratulations to all of the successful students! Let’s go, Angels!!!

“Fueling Greatness!” Salk School officially launched their new hot/cold breakfast cart on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

Saturday, February 23, 2019 marked the 25th anniversary of the Magnolia School District Dental Clinic and Community Health Fair. Dr. Jonas Salk Elementary School MPR was transformed into a Dentist’s office and the courtyard was turned into a community health fair. Students and their families from all across the district were invited to attend.

The 2019 Magnolia School District Spelling Bee was a memorable one! The rain may have delayed the Bee, but it certainly did not stop it. The two top spellers from each of our 9 schools participated in the very intense competition. Students successfully spelled words such as extravaganza, gregarious, capricious and cauliflower.

On Saturday, December 8, almost 350 fourth through sixth grade students attended a four hour Saturday School session. Offered for the first time in Magnolia School District, this four hour session was designed to provide students with fun, engaging learning activities while making up some lost learning time from being absent.

This Saturday, October 6, 2018, is our 3rd Annual MEEF Fit and Fun 5K Run. There is time to sign up for this great event that benefits all our students and teachers.

Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Anaheim, Magnolia students received over 360 new backpacks full of school supplies.

On Saturday, May 19th, 2018 Success Through Chess hosted the 7th annual Magnolia School District chess tournament at Baden-Powell School. The day was filled with concentration, focus, tears, cheers, as students played individually for the first part of the day, then team chess or “bughouse” with their classmates against other District students!

Magnolia School District students were really excited to welcome graduating seniors from Magnolia High School to a “Senior “Walk” at their schools on Monday, May 21. The seniors donned their caps and gowns for a brief “parade” through Maxwell, Salk, and Walter Schools, along with the accompaniment of the skilled musicians in the Magnolia High School drumline.
