The Anaheim Rotary Club's generosity has provided over 400 new backpacks filled with school supplies to students in the Magnolia School District. These supplies, including binders, pencils, crayons, and markers, help ease the financial strain on families during back-to-school preparations. The initiative showcases the significance of community engagement in fostering a positive learning environment, with the club's contributions expected to enhance students' confidence, enthusiasm for learning, and overall educational journey.

Project HERO and Sa-Rang Church's 12th Annual Hope Camp welcomed 50 Magnolia School District students from the program. High school alumni volunteers led STEM activities and outings, including a rocket launch. Every camper received sports equipment, creating a memorable and impactful experience.

Project HERO's successful Back to School Event provided over 200 students with essential supplies like uniforms, backpacks, and books. Collaborating with local partners, the event included former program students as volunteers and plans to support an additional 100 students in the weeks ahead.

Graduating high school seniors from Savannah High School, Magnolia High School and Oxford Academy visited their former Magnolia School District elementary schools on Monday, May 22, 2023. Seniors entered the schools accompanied by the marching band and paraded through their former schools. Students cheered as the seniors walked through, giving them high-fives and clapping their hands. Students and teachers made signs for the seniors and congratulated the graduates. This tradition provides our elementary students an insight of what they can accomplish and our teachers were beyond excited to see their former students in their caps and gowns.

The May 2023 Edition of School News and Podcast is now available!

On February 4th, Magnolia’s annual District Spelling Bee took place and was hosted at Dr. Jonas E. Salk School. Our District coordinates with the Orange County Department of Education to put this annual event together under the guidance of the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which is the nation’s largest and longest-running educational program. Their mission is to “inspire the exploration of words and illuminate pathways to lifelong curiosity, and celebrate academic achievement while enriching communities.”

Dr. Jonas Salk School has partnered up with the Ryan Dungey Foundation and Fox Racing to bring the All Kids Bike program to the Kindergarten students.

On May 9, 2022 our District Superintendent, Dr. Frank Donavan, was honored with the prestigious Tracy Gaffey Award. The award is presented to one administrator each year and is in the memory and spirit of Tracy Gaffey, long time leader in education.
